I've been at it for about 15 years, including living in xalapa when you were there and other times. I have always been thrilled and entertained by the regional jarocho culture, language, and laughter in the musica, which is complex and afro-antillian in its own way, also the backbeat always reminds me that the hueheutl was the primero instrument on this continent. (como en el ahualulco). Un vato cruzado por la supuesta frontera soy,
y con este vercecito ya me voy.

I love your journey with la musica Mexicana Katie. My fiance is a Jarocho and guitarrista. It is through him that I came to know and love Son Jarocho. The poetry and metaphor of these songs is moving.

We don't believe that Son Jarocho will lose it's local flavor. It's roots are strong. Yes there's the risk of homogeneity as the music becomes popular elsewhere, but there will always be those musicos who like to keep the tradition pure.
